He wants to be a doggie. And doggies drink apple juice from bowls apparently. Anything goes when you have a tired mama.

An extra seventy pounds (approximately)

Normally jared pulls the kids in the trailer. Today i decided I need the calories burned more than him, so I had him switch it to my bike. Oh my goodness, what a work out. An extra seventy pounds or so of a workout. I am thinking this may be a daily activity for us this summer! I may change my mind when I wake up with jello legs in the morning.

Mothers day

I normally would say something mushy and lovely about how being a mom is hard work (baldy blah) and how although it is hard work it is  very rewarding etc.

But I am not in a very mushy mood and this post is late mostly because I dont have time because being a mom is hard work... you get it.

I DO love these kids, and I AM glad that I am their mom...

(notice K man's neckalace that he gave to ME for mothers day but insisted on wearing it to church and to school the following day. lol)

Both kiddos made me awesome presents in their sunday school class. We have such good primary leaders.

AND... Jared...who is really, really, really bad at holidays, did very good this year. He made me feel very special. In addition to all my presents, he made me waffles with strawberries and whipped cream for breakfast. And got the kiddos 90% ready for church.
I am glad to be a mom, it is hard work, but very rewarding.

portrait of a mother.

he does not seem to care that I am not perfect or that I have a million things to work on. Maybe its because he doesn't know any better but to my four year old I am a pretty cool mama (as long as I make mac and cheese and play catch every now and then) and apparently I look a little like a potato, but I am ok with it. I wish i could see myself through his eyes more often.

Yesterday...

Yesterday was one of those good days. One of those times when you actually feel the joy that they talk about when you have kids. The joy that they "supposedly" bring you.

Jared had to work, and normally when he works nights it brings me stress. It means I have to do dinner and play time and bed time ALL BY MYSELF. You understand right?

It was sunny and we took a picnic to the park (see previous post.) We swang on the swings and played baseball and frisbee, we made daisy crowns and played and played. As they swang on the swing, each would give me a kiss as they swang toword me, and they thought that was the funniest thing ever. I may or may not have teared up a bit when they were giggling with delight.

Then we came home and they went to bed.

We have been to the park a million and a half times, we have played cars, playdough and bubbles, we have cooked together we have sang and read together, don't think this was my first attempt at playing with them, becuase it is a daily event, but maybe my attitude was different this particular time. I can honestly say that playing with my munchkins at the park on this sunny spring evening was truely joyful.

I think I will keep them.

(not so joyful about my double chin in this picture, I swear it was the angle, I have not gained 100 pounds.)

it hurts!

I love my job. It has lots of perks and only a few down sides. However I recently discovered a new very big downside...Nasty, horrible, disgustingly itchy poison oak. Its all over and it hurts and itches. I would not wish this on my worste enemy (Ok, maybe i would. lol.)
