I need a vacation...

Yesterday was our fifth anniversary.

Five years ago, yesterday, we got hitched, for all eternity.

Five years ago tomorrow, we went on a cruise to catalina.

While on said cruise, we decided that, "no matter what" we would go on a second cruise for our fifth anniversary.

I am not on said cruise! :(

We must have thought that we would be rich, done with school, be unable to have children, not have jobs and that we would deserve it or something. I am not sure what we were thinking, but "no matter what" just doesn't work in the real world.

To complicate things further...

Five years ago, Jared's best man drove 3107.18 miles from Boston Massachusetts to Eugene Oregon for our wedding.

Said best man got married yesterday, on our fifth anniversary and we didn't have enough money to make the trip. I am sad because...

1. I could have been in boston (ahh, boston in the spring) on my fifth anniversary.

2. What kind of scum are we that he DROVE across the country LITERALLY...

...for our wedding, but we couldn't make the trip.  I feel awful about it.

And the cherry on top of it all is that I need a vacation right now more than ever. Some days I feel like ripping my own hair out just trying to maintain my life, the dishes, laundry and the kids.

I think the worst part about needing a vacation right now, is knowing that I had two, not just one, TWO trips planned for this very moment, and I am not on either of said trips.

Needless to say... I NEED A VACATION!

On a good note, Jared made a nice toast with our sparkling cider last night. I am not 100% sure on the words, but it went something like this...

Heres to the last five years of happiness and hell and heres to five more.

Easter

Easter was great this year. It is fun that Kman is starting to understand things like egg hunts and the easter bunny. We have been trying to teach him that  Jesus is actually the reason we celebrate easter, not the candy.

We taught him that when we ask him "why do we celebrate easter?" to respond "Becuase Jesus loves me." So, he woke up on sunday morning to his easter basket and I asked him who came to our house, expecting him to say the easter bunny, he responded very excitedly "JESUS." I will take that answer. :)

Kem really only cared about the eggs, kroten liked everything especially the candy.

We did several egg hunts this year, all of which kroten was very excited for. Candy is not his strong point, but he sure likes it!

And kem just looked pretty, no egg hunt for her.  I like it this way.

Just remember... "Jesus loves me."

what do you call an artist who draws?

Is there such a word, am I just blanking or what?

Drawer? Isn't that how you spell the thing you put your clothes in?
Sketchist? That sounds creepy.
Doodler? Yeah we will call it that for now...

Kroten may very well be a professional doodler in the future...

broadway.

I am the most spoiled girl in the whole world. :)

My dad bought tickets for the broadway musical Wiked when it came to town as a surprise for my mom and little sister. Sadly, Karly had a prior engagement and couldn't go. So guess who got to take her seat.

ME!!!!!!

It was AMAZING. Absolutly amazing. I have never seen a real broadway and I have never seen so many talented people. It was awesome.

Thanks Dad.

We went to dessert before the show... lets just say it was equally amazing...

Happy Easter...

Matching outfits and chocolate peanut butter eggs on easter was fun but what we are truly celebrating and trying to teach our children is that "JESUS LOVES ME!"

Happy Easter
Love the Moss Family.

BaAaA

We were on a walk this morning and a man with a small poodle walked by us and politely said hi,  Kroten's response was a very loud, "look at that little sheep."

I can't wait for the sun to shine so we can go hiking. I already have big plans for our summer of hiking.

A few weeks ago, we tried to go hiking, it was a little pre-mature, but it was fun.

Cold and wet, but fun.

Kman is a little hiker. He just wanted to keep going, up and up.  When Jared and I were thinking about turning back, kroten was still running up the hills. He hiked probably 2 miles that day.

Kroten really wanted to take a picture of kem and I. It makes me super nervous to let him have my camera, but I let him try...

Nice cropping Kman.

So daddy helped him out a bit.

Summer, we are waiting!

over and over and over again...

This is now Kroten's favorite song and quickly becoming my least.

(you can pause the blog music by scrolling all the way to the bottom.)

If you are not at-least laughing out loud when this video is over, I would seriously consider getting your funny bone checked out. Just sayin'.

there is just something about bath time...

your so silly.

Jared got out the silly sting and tried teaching the boys (kroten and his cousin xander) how it is done. They weren't quite ready to work an aerosol can all by themselves, but they had a blast.

And kem sat and watched, waiting for her day to dominate the big kids with silly string.
You will have your day soon baby girl. Just stay there sitting on the blanket please!

epic fail!

I take pictures of people for a living. (the term living is used loosely)
Its what I do, its what I love.
But I don't really have a ton of formal portraits of my own children. (You know, the dentist's kids have the worst teeth, the teacher's kids don't know math, the photographers kids don't get photographed.)

So I decided that I would take my kids to some cool location and do a special photo shoot of them. They got all spiffy and we drove to the county. Kroten repeated the entire way, "were going to the photo shoot." I think he was excited to finally see where I go each saturday.
After having this experience, I now know why the photographers kids don't get photographed. Lets just say it didn't go well.
I won't talk about scratching my foot really bad, having spiders crawl all over me, loosing the $9 eye cup from my camera and failing miserably, but I will tell you how bad it was.
There was not ONE, not one single shot that I felt was redeemable. It was a COMPLETE waste of time. As in total failure. With every single click of the shutter one of the following things was going on.
They were looked at me as if to say... "are you seriously going to make me do this?"

Someone was picking at their bum as if to say, "oh yeah, take a picture of this."

After this next picture, Kem cried...the entire rest of the time, including the drive home.

Thankfully I am completely and utterly in love with these two... and this picture makes me want to cry with joy because they are mine.

And then Kroten cried the entire way home "I want to go to the photo shoot." He just couldn't wrap his head around the fact that we were just there.

Kem vs. the opthamologist.

Kem has had a goopy, nasty, watery, boogery eye since the day we brought her home from the hospital. I tried everything to get it to go away. Then the doctor told me that it is "just a clogged tear duct." Like it is no big deal. Ok, I know it is not life threatening, but I swear if one more person tells me that my child has an eye booger, I swear I will go kung foo on them. And if another well meaning mom sticks her germ filled finger in my babies eye to fish out said booger, I will not hesitate to chop said finger off.
This picture is a good description of what is going on...
You know how your nose runs when you cry, that is cause the tears drain into your nose. And kem's is blocked. So the tears that we all produce daily to keep our eyes wet, normally drain into this tube, kem's drain down her face. Because of the blockage she is more prone to infections, hence the boogers.

So the pediatrician sent us to the opthamologist (eye doc.) I was super nervous that they were going to do the procedure that day and it was going to be the most traumatic thing I ever had to put one of my children through. But we got there, and it was a BIG eye doctor. He wasn't big, but it was an eye doc for big people, like adults. Lots of big equipment and such, and my little kem just took it all in. She is just so cute!
Anyway, long story short, he said lets wait till she is a year old for two reasons. 1. it might go away... YAY. 2. she will have to be put to sleep. (for a 30 second procedure. RISKY!)
So we will wait. And I will update you sooner than later!

break through.

Kroten has been afraid of the vacuum since he was really little. I am pretty sure that he has super sensitive ears and it is just too loud for him.

Recently, he has been really into the vacuum.  Every time I get it out, he has to do the chore. I love it because I use it to bribe him to pick up his toys and it gives him something to do for ten minutes.

He is getting so grown up.
